Hatchford Park
Hatchford Park, Ockham Lane, Hatchford, Surrey
Formerly known as Hatchford Park School
A manor house was first built on the site around 1740, but it was in the mid 1800s when Lady Ellesmere laid out some 70 acres of gardens and woodlands. The estate was later bought by Sir Bernhard Samuelson (his mausoleum is in the woods), and then became a private school in 1947. The surrounding woods are now owned by Surrey County Council.
In the 1990s, Hatchford Park was bought and converted into luxury apartments. Unfortunately the manor house was destroyed in a fire during 2000, but has since been restored by its developers, Latchmere Properties and Countryside Properties.
