Home to one of the largest computer companies in the world, North Harbour is main headquarters of IBM, whose buildings can be seen from the motorway beside a great lake and well maintained grounds.

How to get here:

Road: M27 - Westbound: exit junction 12, and head north on Western Road (A27), the next junction is the IBM complex. Eastbound: exit junction 12 and up to the roundabout; head right towards Portsmouth on the A27, and when you reach the loop, the IBM complex is on the other side as you come around the loop. Parking: unknown. +

Fraser Gunnery Range (The Sea Devils). Road: Exit the IBM area onto the A27, go round the loop and head south towards the M27/Portsmouth. Cross over and head into Portsmouth on the A3, then bear left towards Hillsea/Milton on the A288. After Milton, turn left into Bransbury Road, and at its end turn left into Henderson Road; as this bears right, turn left and right into Fort Cumberland Road and this leads down to the beach next to the gunnery range. Parking: unknown.

Road (16.4 miles, 24m) : Exit the IBM area onto the A27, go round the loop and head south towards the M27/Portsmouth. Follow the M27 towards Chichester and then merge onto the A3(M) towards Petersfield. Continue on until it becomes the A3, and then exit when you reach the Buriton turnoff. Turn right to re-join the A3 southbound. At the next junction (Queen Elizabeth Park), and then follow the road to the visitor centre. Parking Visitor Area car park.

Isle of Wight (The Sea Devils). Road (6.1 miles, 21m) : Wightlink Ferry. Exit the IBM area onto the A27, and follow it to the roundabout with the A3; turn left onto this and it leads onto the M275 into Portsmouth. Continue until you reach the end when it becomes the A288, and follow the signs to the Isle of Wight ferry terminal.
