Mirador del Rio was originally envisaged by its creator Cesar Manrique to be a restaurant, built on the site of an old Spanish gun battery used to deter potential American conquest. However, it eventually became a focal point for taking in the view of the salt plains and across the sea to the island of La Graciosa.

Admission: Opens between 10:00am and 6:00pm, 4.70 euros (May 2007)
