Winspit Quarry
Worth Matravers, Dorset

Winspit Quarry was used to quarry stone before the Second World War, when it then became a naval/air defence site. The site is private, but the public is allowed to access the quarry and its caves at their own risk. The quarry is considered an excellent site for rock-climbing.

How to get here:

»

Road: A35 - Take the junction off the A35 with the A351 near Poole, and follow this towards Wareham and then on towards Swanage. At the junction with the B3069 (after Corfe Castle), turn right heading towards Kingston; after the village there will be another junction on the right that heads to Worth Matravers. As you reach the village there is a public car park on the right-hand side. +

Parking Details

There is a public car park as you enter the village. £1.00 for the day.

Where to walk

Turn right out of the car park and follow the signs to the quarry. Note: its about a mile walk!
