Amersham Road (A413)
Denham, Buckinghamshire

The A413 runs between Amersham to the north and the A40 to the south, passing alongside the Chalfonts. The A40 end becomes a dual carriageway, and southbound passes an electricity station.

The M25 motorway was constructed right over part of the layby a couple of years after filming.

How to get here:

»

Road: A413 - From the A40, turn onto the A413 towards Amersham, and then after a few hundred yards you can turn right into a small road leading to the power station, just before the A413 passes under the M25; the layby is immediately on the left. From Amersham, follow the A413 until it becomes the dual carriageway; the layby is just after passing under the railway bridge, before the M25. Parking: anywhere on the layby. +

Additional Notes:

»

Two factors come into play to alter the location from filming; firstly the flourishing plantlife along the carriageway, but more in particular the M25; the way in which filming distorts distance makes the actual position of Vanessa's car and the TARDIS materialisation point uncertain on the layby - it might even have been under the M25 bridge itself!
