Bedford Square
London
Built between 1775 and 1783, Bedford Square is one of the best preserved areas of Georgian architecture in London, with many of the buildings being Grade I listed; it is named after the main landlords in the Bloomsbury area.
Number 41 was once home to the architect William Butterfield and the novelist Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins.
During the first half of 2006 the square was redeveloped, with the curved road around the square removed and made more pedestrian-friendly, the work undertaken to restore the original Georgian York stone paving line.
