Hayes Towpath, Grand Union Canal, Hayes, Middlesex
This branch of the Grand Union Canal was opened in 1801, creating a route from Bulls Bridge to Paddington in order to provide speedy transport of people and goods into the city from Uxbridge. The railway bridge is the main line out of Paddington to the West of England and Wales, and was built in 1839.
There used to be a footpath across the bridge, but like many railside paths it has now been closed for safety reasons.
EMI used to have huge factories by the railway at this spot, but they were closed down and demolished by 1971. The waste ground is still there, though there is now a large hill that blocks the view from the railway.
How to get here:

Rail: Hayes and Harlington - Exit the station and turn left, walking down the hill to North Hyde Road. Turn left and follow it until you approach the large roundabout with the A312. Head up the steps to the A312 and walk over the Grand Union Canal, then walk down the walkway to the canal side. Turn left and cross over Bull's Bridge, and then turn left onto the canal path up to the railway bridge. +

Bus: Bulls Bridge bus map - Buses to Tescos. From there walk to the large roundabout with the A312 (Parkway) and along the subway to the other side. Turn right up the steps to the A312 and walk over the Grand Union Canal, then walk down the walkway to the canal side. Turn left and cross over Bull's Bridge, and then turn left onto the canal path up to the railway bridge. +

Road: M4 - Exit at junction 3, and head north on the A312 (Hillingdon). At the next roundabout go right and then left into the Tesco car park. +
Parking is free for 3 hours in the Tesco car park.
This location is private and has no or limited access only. The grounds and towpath by the bridge on the side used in filming are private, but the area around the bridge can be easily viewed from the public footpath on the opposite bank.

There is a huge hill on the grounds next to the railway line that now inhibits the view from trains passing by.

It is probable that you can see the wasteland properly from the A312 that runs parallel above the site; however, as there is no formal pavement on the side nearest to the waste ground this might not be the safest way to see it!
