Burnham Beeches are the remains of a great primeval forest that covered much of Buckinghamshire, and contains the largest collection of old Beech trees in the world. It was protected from development in 1880, and has been the inspiration for many artists and poets.

How to get here:

Road: M40 - Exit junction 2 (Beaconsfield) and head south along the A355 towards Egypt. When you enter the town, turn right at Beeches Road, which then leads into Lord Mayors Drive at the Beeches. Parking: free. +

Dropmore House (Day of the Daleks). Road (2.9 miles, 19m) : Head west on Lord Mayor's Drive, and at the end turn right onto Hawthorn Lane. Carry onto Pumpkin Hill, and this becomes Curriers Lane. At the end, turn right onto Dorney Wood Road and continue along it until you eventually reach the junction with Deansway and Little Road. The entrance to the park is just to the right and then follow this to the house. Access and Parking: unknown.
