Insole Court is a Victorian gothic-style mansion house in Llandaff, built in 1855 by James Harvey Insole, a coal and shipping family. As the coal industry declined after the First World War the estate was eventually sold in 1932 to the Cardiff Corporation. Today, much of the estate is now covered by housing.
The house itself is owned by Cardiff Council, and is available for conferences, weddings, classes and other functions.
The building was reported as being used for filming for Doctor Who in 2006, but it seems more likely to have been for Torchwood or the Sarah Jane Adventures - still needs clarification/identification!
