Jacquet Weston Engineering (approach road)
Membury, Wiltshire
Formerly known as Membury Airfield
Membury airfield was built during the Second World War, opening in August 1942. It was used by the US Air Force and the RAF until it closed in October 1946. Many of the wartime building still remain, including the four hangers, though they have since been modified into industrial units.
1 Dec 2009: The southern end of the airfield is now occupied by Jacquet Weston Engineering and Puretech Environment, and the area has been relandscaped.
How to get here:

Road: M4 - Exit the M4 at junction 14, and then head north on the A338 until you reach the B4000 on the left; follow this until you reach Lambourn Woodlands (past the B4001). Then, as the road heads right continue straight ahead on the minor road towards Baydon. At the next crossroad turn left, crossing over the M4 to the Membury airfield business park. +

"The cottages can no longer be seen from the approach road due to trees on the roadside and an embankment built on the northern side. They are still recognisable from the road though!"

The northern side of the approach road now has an embankment with new trees being grown, which will obscure the view of the cottages and hangars further!
