Louvre Museum
Rue de Rivoli, Paris, France
The Louvre has existed since the 12th century, starting out as a fortress on the western edge of Paris and then later being 'modernised' into François I's dwelling and then the palace of Louis XIV. It became a museum in 1793, and is probably most famous for housing Leonardo da Vinci's painting, Mona Lisa.
