Queen Elizabeth Country Park
Gravel Hill, Horndean, Hampshire

The Country Park was formally opened by the Queen in 1976, and is Hampshire's biggest country park at some 1400 acres of woodland and downland. Butser Hill and the site of a Roman farm have been designated Scheduled Ancient Monument status.

The park has changed a bit since filming, with much of the forest damaged by the Autumn storm of 1987.

How to get here:

»

Road: A3 - Exit the A3 at the country park, south of Petersfield. Follow the road through to the visitor centre. +

Parking Details

Visitor Area car park.

Where to walk

For Mysterious Planet, head south from the visitor centre, and then pass through the gate south and up the (steep) trail to Holt Down. The filming areas are near Holt Pond. For Revelation of the Daleks, easiest to drive up to the Juniper car park. Follow the trail north past the barbecue areas eventually leading to War Down.
