Tower Colliery
Hirwaun, Glamorgan, South Wales
Established in 1864, the colliery was closed before privitisation but was later bought out by the management and men who worked there and re-opened in 1995. It finally closed in 2008.
18 Aug 2010: The site is now being considered as being used for opencast mining, tapping into the tonnes of anthracite still on site.
