GPO Sorting Office
Ashdown Road, 16 Orchard Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey
The sorting office is still listed in paperwork as 16 Orchard Road, though it is actually now on Ashdown Road (the roads were altered with the establishment of Wheatfield Way.
The former GPO Sorting Office in Kingston is currently empty, but there are proposals to convert the listed building into residences for students at Kingston University.

Bus: Kingston Bus Map - Bus stops D1/D2/E1/E2/E3 on Eden Street. Walk down Ashdown Road to the sorting office building at the end. +

Road: M3 - Exit at junction one (Sunbury) onto the roundabout and then follow the A308 east towards Hampton Court. Then continue along the A308 to Kingston, crossing the river and then following the one-way system towards Surbiton (A420). Head along Wheatfield Way, and then turn right into Ashdown Road. Parking: roadside (only checked on Sunday). +

"There has been a fair bit of demolition around the sorting office, with just the listed building left, it seems. The door seen in the story didn't appear to be anywhere around the building!"
