Dover Castle (Constable's Gateway)
Dover, Kent, CT16 1HU
Constable's Gateway was built sometime between 1221 and 1227 to replace the castle's original northern entrance, after a siege had exposed the vulnerability of the defences. Designed to enable powerful flanking fire on an enemy, the building also incorporates the lodgings of the constable, who was responsible for the safety of the castle.

Walk: Admissions Centre - Follow the path to the west around the church, passing through Colton's Gateway and toward the keep. Bear left around the keep, and Constable's Gateway is on the left, leading out of the castle. +
