Solent
No Man's Land Sea Fort is one of four forts built in the Solent in the 19th Century to help protect Portsmouth, originally from the threat of Napoleon though that had passed by the time of completion. Subsequently, it played a strategic role in the defence of the English Channel during WWI, and had anti-aircraft guns during WWII.
The fort was a private luxury hotel during the 2000s with two helipads. In Spring 2015 it was re-launched by Amazing Venues as a new hotel boasting features such as LaserQuest, available for weddings, business functions, parties, or just a break.
The nearest place to see the fort from land is The Esplanade at Seaview, Nettlestone, and directions are to this point. Or alternatively the Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferry passes quite close to the fort if you travel near to the island that way!
Admission: Prices vary depending on function; as of Spring 2015 a luxurious two night break costs £350 per person.

Road: From the Fishbourne ferry port, head along Fishbourne Lane until you reach the A3054, then turn left towards Ryde. From there take the B3330 towards Nettlestone, and then turn left onto the B3340 into the town (Seaview). The coast here along the Esplanade is the nearest point to seeing No Man's Land Sea Fort. Road: From the East Cowes ferry port, head along the A3021 out of East Cowes. Follow the A3021 to Whippingham, then turn left onto the A3054 towards Wootton and continue on to Ryde. From there take the B3330 towards Nettlestone, and then turn left onto the B3340 into the town (Seaview). The coast here along the Esplanade is the nearest point to seeing No Man's Land Sea Fort.
