Place de la Concorde

Place de la Concorde was originally designed in 1755 to honour Louis XV. However during the French Revolution it gained noteriety as the place of the guillotine. The location of the execution device is now marked by an obelisk, one of 'Cleopatra's' needles placed there in 1833.
