St. James's Gardens
Shepherd's Bush
St. James's Gardens were built between 1847 and 1851, designed by John Barrett; they surround the Church of St. James, which was built a couple of years beforehand. Unfortunately a shortage of funds meant that the church never had a spire, and also the square itself was not completed until the mid-1860s - numbers 25-41 are built slightly differently to the rest of the houses!
