Opened in 1963, the women-only prison catered for minimum through to high security inmates. Earthquake damage in 1994 caused the prison to eventually close in 1997, and since then it has become a regular location for film and television filming.

Metro: California State University Metro - Served by the Metro Silver line. Exit the station via the bridge to Campus Road, then turn right and follow it to the end. Turn right into Ramona Blvd and then left into North Eastern Avenue. Turn left into City Terrace Drive, then follow it around to the prison. +
