7 Oct 2011: After some unconfirmed reports of activity on Thursday, today definitely saw Matt Smith and Alexander Armstrong on location at , with the latter providing a photo to prove it!

3 Oct 2011: Filming reported by on Twitter: "all the filming last night was for the Dr Who Christmas special so keep your eyes peeled for us!!" Alexander Armstrong also said on Twitter: "coincidentally I sat in a Lancaster yesterday. Hadn't twigged it was Filming in Warplanes Day..."

26 Sep 2011: Filming today took place with Bill Bailey, though whether this was studio or location is unknown. A film cameraman Ryan Owen was also working on this day's shoot.

26 Sep 2011: The scene recorded at tonight involved Matt Smith and Claire Skinner, with the former dressed in a charcoal spacesuit. The scene on the green appears to be 1960s-set, and had a disoriented Doctor chatting to Skinner's character who just drove him up to a police box. Having said to get in touch, the Doctor entered the box which turned out to be a normal police box! Filming later moved around the corner to .

25 Sep 2011: Heads up on filming at , indicating "Scenes of the upcoming Dr Who xmas episode are being filmed tomorrow eve in Rhiwbina." and " It's on a street called Y Groes from 1800 to 1am. All I know is a cherry picker is on location if that helps."

23 Sep 2011: We belatedly found out about the filming after a report in the local Forester paper on the Thursday; the local shop on site reported that filming actually took place on Monday/Tuesday.

20 Sep 2011: Filming took place in the afternoon/evening at , with Matt Smith (plus stunt double) in attendance. The site was dressed to look like a futuristic corridor. There were originally plans for a canal boat to be blown up, but health and safety put paid to that idea (though a later report suggested that some explosions did take place during the course of the evening).

17 Sep 2011: This evening saw MS, KG, and AD film a short scene at , which was established as the married couple's street only this night in . The scene involved a snowy New Year's arrival on the doorstep for the Doctor.

16 Sep 2011: Work is believed to be taking place in studio today and tomorrow, which has been reported to be setup for a spaceship set.

16 Sep 2011: DoctorWhoTV - An additional report here said: "There was a little ginger boy between the ages of 7-9 who was wearing normal clothing, but about 20 minutes later he came back out wearing light brown pyjamas with red stripes and a tweed dressing gown. Apparently Karen Gillan went to Stradey Castle to film and the little boy followed about an hour later. They.re also filming in our local park, Parc Howard which also has a mansion."

16 Sep 2011: The base is still at Sandy Bridge this morning and Matt Smith is on location too (possibly Karen Gillan too, based on hotel reports). Filming continuing at Stradey Castle. Meanwhile the BBC confirmed that Maxine Peake wasn't in the story!

15 Sep 2011: Filming carried on today in Llanelli at Stradey Castle, with the base still at still at Sandy Bridge. Being private there was little hope of anything being seen, though one shot of the house did emerge, and Matt Smith was spotted at the base by Wales Online, alongside a guest star they identified as Maxine Peake.

14 Sep 2011: Filming reportedly continued in Llanelli, though whether this was at Stradey Castle again wasn't certain - a production base was spotted opposite the Sandpiper (most likely Sandy Bridge!), which is close to the estate. Filming was expected to finish around 10:00pm.

13 Sep 2011: A report from Jamie Tiong said: "DW xmas special begins filming this month just spotted production of cardiff bay near melkeniumn centre then off to newport and saw tardis near upperboat filming takes place near castle ruins also saw xmas decorations near cardiff city the same street for RW and EOT". No signs were reported to clarify if this was indeed DW or Being Human which is in the Cardiff area at present.

13 Sep 2011: The morning kicked off with a tweet from Dave Prince saying: "a mate who's a rigger just texted me to say he's down in llanelli today for doctor who filming.". During the day this filming was tracked down to Stradey Castle by Michael Gibson, who noted NRG signs at the castle and the production base at Sandy Bridge. These signs were used throughout the summer for Baker Boys, which had a wrap party a week ago - it isn't clear whether this is further filming or the signs now being used for Doctor Who! Darksteel on GB commented: "I understand the first 3 or 4 days shooting is 1st unit indoors"
