Kensington Gardens
Kensington Gardens
Kensington Gardens was originally part of Hyde Park, but was bought by King William III as a peaceful area in order to help with his asthma. He commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to build Kensington Palace. The gardens in their current form were the work of Queen Caroline, who created the Serpentine and Long Water along it's eastern edge, and by Queen Victoria who commissioned the Italian Gardens and the Albert Memorial.

Underground (Central): Queensway - Exit the station and cross over Bayswater Road; enter the gardens through Black Lion's Gate to the grassy area beside the Broad Walk. +

Bus: Bayswater Bus Map - Black Lion's Gate is near stop A, T. Walk through the gate to the grassy area beside the Broad Walk. +

Bayswater Road (The Chase). Exit the park through Black Lion's Gate into Bayswater Road, and turn left.

Albert Memorial (The Dalek Invasion of Earth). The memorial is signposted through the park, or you can walk south along the Broad Walk, and at the far end turn left along Kensington Gardens until you reach the memorial. on the left.

Cornwall Gardens (The War Machines, The Mind of Evil). Head south through the Gardens along the Broad Walk. At the end, cross over Kensington Road and continue along Palace Gate; this becomes Gloucester Road. Cornwall Gardens will be on the right-hand side.

Commonwealth Institute (The Mind of Evil). Walk south along the Broad Walk, and at the far end turn right along Kensington Gardens/High Street. Follow the high street past High Street Kensingon Station and the Institute is just past the entrance to Holland Park. Alternatively catch bus 9/10 along Kensington High Street to stop X and cross over to the Institute. on the left.
