Road: M25 - Exit junction 17 (Maple Cross) and head east on the A412 to the next roundabout. Turn left towards Rickmansworth, and Springwell Lane will be on the right, just past the pumping station. The lock is about a mile along the road. Parking: car park by lock. +

Springwell Lake (The Three Doctors). From the small footbridge cross onto the road through the gap in the hedge and then follow the road left. The area of lake used in the story is on the right, near an angler's area. (600 yards, 2m)

Springwell Quarry (The Three Doctors, Earthshock, The Twin Dilemma, Delta and the Bannermen). Walk up to the bridge across the lock, crossing it to the other side. The entrance to the quarry is on the left. (200 yards, 1m)

Summerfield Bungalow (The Three Doctors). Head north along Springwell Lane, and the site of the bungalow is just past the bridge. (0.3 miles, 4m)

Road: Nead north on Springwell Lane until you reach the main road (A412); turn right and follow the road through Rickmansworth and onto Watford; the roundabout used in the story is just past Croxley Green station over the Cassio Bridge. Denham Manor (The Five Doctors, The Three Doctors). Road (3.7 miles, 10m) : Head north along Springwell Lane; at the end, turn left onto the A412 and continue along it past the roundabout junction with the M25, heading towards Denham. When you reach Tilehouse Lane, turn right and follow it until it becomes a wider road, and Halings Lane will be on the right, after the wood. The Manor is at the end of tarmac-ed road. Hill End Road. At the end, turn right into Rickmansworth Road, heading
towards Harefield, and at the centre roundabout, turn right onto Park Lane.
Follow this to the canal, and the Coy Carp pub is on the left.
