23 Mar 2009: Alan M. has now confirmed the location of Summerfield Bungalow, courtesy of a map from 1962; the location has been demolished and is currently overgrown, though may be redeveloped shortly.
How to get here:

Road: M25 - Exit junction 17 (Maple Cross) and head east on the A412 to the next roundabout. Turn left towards Rickmansworth, and Springwell Lane will be on the right, just past the pumping station. The site of the bungalow will be on the left-hand side after about a mile, just before a bridge across the river. +
roadside (limited), or you can park in the carpark next to the lock a little further along.
